As dirty as that title sounds I guarantee this is purely a post about the pleasures of side street escapes.

(....okay so that still sounds dirty)

MX Magazine's write up about Brisbane's increased laneway activity got me thinking about my favourite inner city side street haunts for a drop, a crumb and maybe even something to take home :)

One of the first comments we've received so far about this image is
"Where is that? I feel like I know where that is..."

This response is perfect, considering that's what our project is all about - the colourful memories from familiar places day and night in the Valley and beyond :)

We're in the process of finalising our posters and print materials to plaster all over the city for our show in May (not to mention finalising our scripts! EEP!!).

Don't forget - we're still seeking trash-fessionals, so fess up cats and dolls! We want to hear your dirty (or not so dirty) little back alley secrets....

Everybody's at it

Okay, so while we aren't affiliated with this lot we thought this video was pretty great!
Art makes everything beautiful, and we can't wait til May to transform the (already stunning) Winn Lane alley into the intimate tales of some unique individuals!

Street Art Envy

One thing we alleycats love, besides a good drink and a burnt out street lamp, is street art!

We went along to the Brisbane Emerging Art Festival at Metro Arts a little while ago, and apart from the array and multiplicity of art we saw (spoken word on a soap box, the techno-tunes of Outerwaves, fashion sketches and a forest made from everyday objects) there was the work of local emerging artist Liam O'Brien.

His work took 20 individuals around the Brisbane streets to throw flour, smoke bombs and a bunch of other back street shenanigans, and we couldn't stop hearing the wow's and woah's of his piece! Check out the vid below!

Rogues, Rescuers and Back-alley Banshees!

You might have heard on the grapevine in Brisbane that us Alleyway kittens had a cheeky shoot for the show! Here are some behind the scenes snaps taken on our perfect day in Winn Lane!

I can also confirm that script writing has commenced (and from the synopsis' I've had the pleasure of spying we're in for a wild ride and a mixed bag of tenderness and.... well...trash, of course).
